Thirty people representing seven different ski clubs from CMSC descended upon Schweitzer
Mountain in Sandpoint, Idaho March 30 – April 4, 2022. While we checked into the Selkirk Lodge,
porters schlepped our bags from the bus to our rooms. This was a pleasant surprise since it was
a little uphill and it just started snowing! The welcome reception had a fantastic “Potato Bar”.
These things were huge! They threw in a couple drink coupons for some beer/wine/pop during the
reception, some brownies for dessert. For most people, after a long day of traveling, this was
dinner, so most everyone called it an early night.
Schweitzer is a great area. The village area is small, but in a good way. Everything was within
a 2-3 minute walk from our hotel lobby, all the restaurants, bars, stores, ski rentals, even the
lifts. There were basically no lift lines, typically ski up to a chair and there might be two or
three chairs of people waiting. They had a great variety of blue and black skiing. Of the 2900+
acres of skiing available, about 1600 of that is glade skiing, from wide spacing between the I
would strongly recommend that any ski club that is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Ski
Council plan a trip to Schweitzer. You will not be disappointed!
