We had 22 people from 9 different ski clubs head out to Park City. Which really turned into a
fresh powder extravaganza!! We received 37”+ of fresh powder in just 3 of 4 ski days.
We settled in the inviting Peaks Hotel in Park City, to reserve our energy for our first of many
outings. As a group we walked in the beautiful sunshine to the grocery store and liquor store
for our weekly supplies. Our pizza packed “Welcome Reception” followed and was a pivotal turning
point of our trip, before we even realized it. Here we also introduced ourselves to each other
since not everyone was familiar with each other. This was where we bonded by skiing ability by
finding others with the same skill level and partner up for the days to come.
Our first day of skiing was a bluebird sky Sunday, little did we know it would be the only sunny
day we would have as the following days it dumped…5”, then 16”, then another 16”!! The powder
was light and fluffy; it didn’t matter if you were skiing the groomed runs at Park City or the
ungroomed runs at the Canyons, there was snow everywhere! Since it wasn’t very crowded this time
of year, it seemed like every time you came down the mountain there was untracked snow to be
found…everywhere.
Thank goodness the Peaks hotel was our hotel. It had a wonderful, hot complimentary breakfast
buffet every morning to give us the energy we needed for our days, and an indoor/outdoor
swimming pool and hottub, a steam room, and a sauna that was used every day after skiing and
even later at night. The camaraderie on the trip was magnetic and everyone seemed to be having a
memorable time with some new found friends. Smaller groups got together to go out for dinner at
the many restaurants in Park City, others watched the NCAA men’s basketball final together, but
on our last night this friendly group went out together for dinner to the Boneyard to conclude
our magical trip. It was truly a memorable trip with The 37”+ of fresh snow and full days of
spending time with new friends; from our morning hair breakfasts and lunch ski breaks to
eventful apres ski pool hangouts and dinners. It is a trip to talk about for years to come.
