Founded in 1971 as a club dedicated to downhill skiing, we have changed with the times. While many of our members are still skiers and snowboarders, we also offer members touring trips to europe and day trips to many fun places in the midwest.
Today we have about 500 members, making us one of the largest ski clubs in central Illinois. We offer year around activities and social events that keep our members active and entertained, whether you love to ski or not.
For our skiing members, we offer three ski trips a year with destinations across the United States and Canada. We are able to offer affordable ski trips because we can take advantage of group rates. Each trip is led by a trip leader and housing, transportation and lift tickets are always provided.
When skiing isn’t in season, and for those non-skiers, we offer a multitude of other opportunities to travel and socialize. We organize trips to europe which have included Italy, France and Germany. We have tennis, bowling, 8-ball pool, and golf leagues. Summer trips have included professional football and baseball games, brewery and brew pub tours, mystery trips and more! We've gone to Chicago for shopping, plays and even a chocolate festival! We are always looking for new and exciting trips and activities that interest our club members.
We also host monthly Happy Hours, “dining out” opportunities, a Halloween party, a Christmas party, and two “sign-up” parties a year, where you’ll learn about upcoming ski trips, day trips, sporting events, and fun activities scheduled.
Each month, we publish “The Snowjourner,” a newsletter for our members that is packed with information about future events and articles about recent trips.
In addition to our trips and social activities, the Springfield Ski Club is also involved in many community services projects, such as collecting food for the local food pantry, collecting donations for local charities, and participating in the Adopt a Street program.
