Alpine Skiing

So, you are looking through this magazine
not knowing the first thing about alpine ski-
ing (downhill skiing). Perhaps you tried it,
but that was years ago, or you got off to a
bad start without lessons. Maybe you’ve
been away from skiing and are curious about
how the equipment has changed over the
years.

Get off the couch; stop being a spectator or
left at home when the rest of the family or
your friends are skiing. Join in the fun!!!
Skiing is something that can be enjoyed
from Grandkids to Grandparents and all ages
in between!!

CMSC (Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council) is
sponsoring Preview to Alpine Skiing in part-
nership with REI (Recreational Equipment,
Inc.). The free event will be held Saturday,
Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location:
REI, 1209 East Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL

Preview to Alpine Skiing is a great opportu-
nity to see what it's all about. Go to REI’s
website to register: rei.com/schaumburg.
Show up anytime between 11 a.m. and 3
p.m. for your free one-hour session.

Alpine Skiing Preview sessions will be con-
ducted by CMSC professional ski instructors
who will introduce you to the equipment
(boots/skis/poles) while helping you maneu-
ver around a flat area indoors. This is the
first half of a beginner lesson, so it’s a real
plus toward that lesson.

Learn how to dress for snowsports
Obtain CMSC ski club and
ski trip information
Learn where to take lessons in the area
