CMSC Winter Carnival, 2011

From March 11-13 the Chicago Metropolitan
Ski Council hosted the 2011 Winter Carnival
at Ski Brule in Iron River, Michigan. There were
11 participating clubs from the Chicagoland
area including ABSF, Champaign Ski Club,
Chicago Friars, Four Winds, Lakeshore,
Nomads, Pine Point, Sitzmark, Sitzmark
Milwaukee, Sno-Gophers and Wild Bunch.
The weekend was packed with skiing,
snowboarding, games, hot tubs and more.
Club members enjoyed some fresh powder
from the snow storm that hit early Saturday
morning.
While they weren’t carving through powder,
participants enjoyed the Nastar racing
course. Taking the lead for the males was
Sno-Gopher Brian Grimes. Wild Bunch’s
Matthew Werning took second place. He was

female first place winner Ann Krammerer from Sitzmark
Milwaukee. The first place male, Phil Skultey of Four Winds,
came close with a time of five seconds. For the females,
Anjelica Werning of Wild Bunch and Alyson Godbolt of
Sno-Gophers placed second and third, respectively. For the
males, Steve Grant of Chicago Friars and Jim Cornelius
of Vagabonds placed second and third, respectively.
