Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), the world’s oldest
and largest heli-skiing and heli-hiking operator, has
expanded its packages for the upcoming 2011/2012
season. The Adamant Lodge package features the first
CMH lodge devoted to small-group skiing. The lodge will
include access to two Bell 407 helicopters, capable of
handling groups of five skiers and a guide. This package will
be available for CAD $8,750 for seven days. The Monashee
Lodge package is now offering late-season, small-group
tours that feature a Bell 212 helicopter for three groups and
a Bell 407 for two groups. While most of CMH’s lodges
do not offer easy access to nearby towns, the Kootenay
Lodge package now offers a small-town setting tucked
between two mountain ranges. Four- or five-day sessions
for groups are also available at these locations, reduced
from seven. (canandianmountainholidays.com)

The Canyons Resort in Park City has added new terrain to
the southern end of its property. Around 300 acres facing
northwest was opened on Iron Mountain. An additional
10 runs, ranging from intermediate to advanced, were cut.
While already boasting the largest single ski and snowboard
resort in Utah, this additional terrain brings Canyon Resort
to a total of 400 skiable acres. The resort has also installed
North America’s first and most technologically advanced
chairlift in the world. The lift resembles an orange bubble,
featuring an enclosed quad lift with heated seats. The uphill
capacity for the resort is increased by 47 percent, taking
only nine minutes to reach the top. (thecanyons.com)
